SAT FAILURES – MASS REVOCATION OF E.SIGNATURES

Today, Monday, October 28, 2024, thousands of taxpayers, both individuals and businesses, have reported the involuntary and unexpected revocation of their e.signatures issued by the Tax Administration Service (SAT), without any official notice from the authority so far. It is worth noting that e.signature revocation is a process that normally requires in-person procedures; therefore, experts in the field suggest this situation is likely due to an error and not a cause for alarm.

If your personal or business e.signature is affected by this issue, the following activities may be temporarily unavailable, which could have certain implications:

  1. Tax filings and notices: While the e.signature remains inactive, specific tax returns, notices, and filings cannot be submitted.
  2. Access to the Tax Mailbox: Official notifications issued by SAT cannot be received.
  3. Foreign trade operations: The flow of foreign goods could be impacted, as some procedures require the use of the e.signature.
  4. Bank transactions: Currency transfers, such as those in U.S. dollars, that require e.signature verification may be disrupted.
  5. Invoice issuance and cancellations: If invoice issuance relies on the e.signature, this could delay payments and disrupt business operations for those affected.

We trust that the authority will resolve this matter as soon as possible, reactivating affected e.signatures without the need for taxpayers to visit SAT offices or file any clarification. At Calderón Marín, we will keep you updated on any developments or solutions related to this issue. If you have any questions or concerns, we are here to help.
